I purchased it for my mother as a Christmas gift (along with a facial oil and toner) to teach her about the many benefits of Gua Sha facial massage and lymphatic drainage.Admittedly I was a bit skeptical about buying a Gua Sha tool online because you can’t feel the weight of it in your hands or see the color. Wow, I am so glad I ordered this one! It is thicker than ones from other sellers - 6-8mm versus 4mm - which is important so it doesn’t crack, as crystals can be somewhat fragile. The weight also adds to the luxurious feeling of using it.The shape and size are very accommodating to the facial contours. I’ve found it’s much easier to use Gua Sha tools with this shape - a teardrop with two rounded points - than the ones with three points.If you’re hesitant to purchase because you’re not sure if the stone is real I can assure you that these are in fact real gemstones. The crystal quality is stunning! It is a light pink color with beautiful clear striations dancing throughout. I also have an amethyst roller and Gua Sha set from Jane that is excellent quality.It also came with the sweetest note and an e-booklet for in-depth instructions. Although I love the black velvet pouch, I might have preferred a box to store it in (or for use when I’m traveling). (The set from Jane came in a box, but not the individual Gua Sha.) Everything came in a cute padded envelope though so no worries about breakage during shipping.Most importantly, results: After consistent use of my Gua Sha (every day for about two months), I’ve seen my skin clear up and develop a “glow” I’ve never seen before. This gua sha facial tool is very well made and good quality. I purchased the jade tool and the tool I received is authentic jade. Unlike other jade gua sha tools I’ve purchased before this tool is sturdy, heavy and very smooth every where. I wanted a thicker tool for body gua sha which this works great for. Surprisingly this works amazingly well for the face as well. I thought because this was so much thicker then the thin tools I use for my face it would be too harsh for my face. This actually works really well for the face. It’s a more gentle smoother massage for the face. I gave 4 stars for the product itself and the 5th star is for the company. The gua sha I received 1st was perfect but one corner of it was not as smooth as the rest. It had chips in it. I didn’t really mind as the rest of it was usable. While reading the pamphlet the company provided with the gua sha I found a section that said the tools are natural so there may be breakage, to contact the seller if there is and it will be replaced. I never do this but on a whim I contacted Jane & Co not expecting to get a response. They responded and actually sent me a new gua sha tool with no breakage! I’ve never used a gua sha before—only a jade roller. I recently was on steroids for an autoimmune disorder which caused my face to puff up like a bratz doll. After six months of prednisone, I HATED my face. I wanted my cute jawline back and my cheeks to look less like swollen moons. As an obsessive internet researcher, I read approx. 1000 articles and watched approx. 300 of videos about facial massage to reduce inflammation. After all that research, that recommended super expensive facial vibrators and lasers and some procedures that cost an arm and a leg.I bought this large Obsidian Gua Sha and it arrived a few days later in really nice packaging, complete with a link to videos on how to use it. I definitely recommend watching videos instead of just diving right in witt massage. I have been using it every night with my night cream and I have been seeing GREAT results.
