The paper is thick and sturdy. The handles are anchored well and can actually be used to hold the bag. (I filled these with various snacks, two water bottles and two individual sized wine bottles. I needed them to be sleek and beautiful given that these students have paid a couple hundred thousand dollars for this degree. Don't want to put their gifts in a cheap looking bag. Coupled with some nice tissue paper, these bags look gorgeous. They are not matte as stated in the description. They aren't glossy, but there is a definite sheen to them. They also looked fairly beat up with creases and wrinkles throughout the bags. The color has faded in the fold creases so when I open the bags, the creases are very noticeable. These may work for craft purposes or use around the house, but not as packaging for a high-end business.
