You definitely get a caffeine hit off of a piece. Was a nice surprise to see there are 2 of the segmented discs in the tin separated by a piece of paper rather the one always shown in stock photos. There is a useful amount of chocolate in it-have only tried the milk chocolate so far, expect the dark chocolate to be great as well. Not sure why I got them other than to see what all the fuss is about as they are legendary-they will definitely perk you up if you need a quick hit to stay awake. My only question is now they hold up to high temperature as these have been issued to German troops for decades, not much good if they melt in a pocket or in warm weather.
