You need to push down the bottom part so that the mount would open up so you can put in the phone. But that requires more effort, i felt like my vents might break from this pressure so i still used two hands to put my phone safely. Since the phone is pretty heavy, it pushed the button on the back itself that the mount would lock in the phone.
