Note that the 1/2 inch refers to the nominal inside diameter of a steel pipe so that the diameter of the thread is much larger. My only problem with this fitting is that the male thread is parallel and not tapered. This means that it does not tighten up hence you need a lot of ptfe tape. Even then you might find that, with time, you may get a slight leak. **Q: What's the maximum outer diameter?** A: 25mm. Note that the photo is confusing, showing three different items. You only get the length you order.
