The pic with the kcup and paper towel on top is to illustrate the general size of the unit. Yes, the green and grey lip do get hot from being in the microwave. The lid also doesn’t snap onto the lower container. However, I’m only using it to steam in the microwave, not transport food in. The unit is easy to clean and thus far I haven’t had any issues with staining. I wash the container out immediately after removing my food. So far I’ve only steamed veggies and shrimp with seasoning; so I only use it for a max of about 6 minutes at a time. A couple of times I’ve had to pop it back in the microwave for a minute or two more (like when steaming sweet potatoes), but still have had no issues with staining and item was easy to clean. There is a trick to keep eggs from being rubbery. Add about a teaspoon of water in the egg and mix. Cook about 90 seconds in 700 watt microwave **Q: Mine did not come with instructions. I mainly bought this to steam veggies, like broccoli, for my son. How long do I microwave for?** A: I don't think mine did either, it depends on the veggies whether they are fresh or frozen, size and type. i.e. broccoli cooks faster than cauliflower, so keep that in mind, and your microwave, the more powerful it is the less time it will take. Mine is a 900w and I put about 1/2 inch of water in the bottom maybe a little more for a full spread of Normandy frozen veggies I set for 3-5 minutes then stir veggies and cook for 2 more. It was more trial and error and thankfully I have been cooking long enough to where I didn't ruin the food or the dish. WARNING the lid will be warm but be careful of the steam and boiling hot water on the inside of the lid when you uncover the food. **Q: What are the dimensions including the height?** A: The diameter is 6".
