From the Manufacturer Realistic diecast plastic model kit. Fine detail includes full-color markings and retractable landing gear. Everything that is needed for assembly is included and all are easily built up in about 5 minutes.

Review: Nice, inexpensive desk or hanging model - I have a more complex model kit of another airplane I plan to assemble this winter, so I wanted a simple, but substantial model of the B-17. The InAir® E-Z Build™ Scale Model Kit is not a perfect model in general, but it is perfect for my needs. As it sits on its stand, the overall effect is just fine. I can move any of the three gun turrets, I can twirl or set the propellers at any angle I want, and I can have the landing gear down or tucked away in the wings and fuselage, respectively. Closer inspection can show the model’s flaws. Some of the seams have small gaps, and they aren’t necessarily equal from one side to the other, such as where the wings attach to the fuselage. The landing gear flips up into slots, but aren’t hidden when folded up. The tail landing gear was difficult to fold out and down to use it in the wheels-down configuration. The two halves of the already assembled fuselage don’t match perfectly. They do show a gap and slightly uneven seams on the underside and on top. But, just like the brush strokes of a fine art painting, anybody looking closely enough to notice the model’s issues is missing the point. It’s a small, snap-together model, already marked for display. In that role, it does its part. I had seen write-ups that mentioned putting the model together might take about 10 minutes. Without pushing for speed, I started a timer (counting up from zero) before I opened the box, took out the pieces as I assembled the airplane, and finally put the assembled airplane on its stand. I pressed the button to stop the timer at 6 minutes and 12 seconds. If you want a display model of the B-17 to sit on your desk or hang from the ceiling (your own extra parts needed for hanging) and you don’t want to pay an arm and a leg for it, this model might be right for you. Approximate assembled dimensions: Length: 8-3/4” Height from bottom of belly turret to top of tail, wheels up: 3” Wingspan: 12-5/8” Height from surface with wheels down: 2-3/8” Height on stand: 5-1/4”
Review: Not as big as I had hoped but fun - This is a pretty small and simple model of a B-17. It's really mostly a toy and less of a model. It was quick enough to put together (a few minutes) but is great to play with. If nothing else, it makes a good start for getting your children interested in building models.

**Q: Is this suppose to be a model of aluminum overcast**
A: "Aluminum overcast' is a snarky but friendly catch phrase for older aircraft that were huge (by standards of the time, at least). It was meant to pay tribute to the giant size of the aircraft, but only for versions that were not in camouflage paint. The overall impression of seeing acres of shiny aluminum when the aircraft passed low overhead was the origin. I've heard it used to describe the B-17, C-141, B-47 and of course the champion, the giant B-36.

**Q: Does it require glue to put it together**
A: No. No glue is required. The model comes together by little friction pins and screws, which are included.

**Q: does it come with bombs?**
A: ...no bombs...

**Q: Can the turrets on the top and bottoms of the plane rotate or are they just like that?**
A: Both turrets swivel freely.
