It can be used on road wheels as well as mtb wheels. The splined part (hidden behind the silver star shaped bit in the picture) has a step in each of it's 6 arms but the adaptor does not come with any instructions as to which way round it should be fitted to your brake rotor so I used my best judgement and fitted it with the step away from the rotor. The adaptor comes with a thin metal shim, like a large washer, but as there are no instructions I can't see the point of it. I don't think that you should fit the shim between the silver star piece and the lock nut as there are anti loosening grooves on these two pieces and putting a shiny shim inbetween them would negate the purpose of the grooves, so I've left the shim out. My wheels are back on the bike after making a slight adjustment to the position of each brake calliper to stop the pads rubbing the rotor when not braking. The black lockring makes it look very neat. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great product - no torque setting though *by M***L on 30 May 2018* Exactly as it said on the tin. Fitted my mavic CX wheels perfectly.
