Our Natural Source Vitamin C tablets contain natural vitamin C derived from dehydrated juice of the acerola berry and wild Spanish orange. These food sources provide the vitamin C complex (i.e., bioflavonoids and other synergistic nutrients), factors not present in supplements that use ascorbic acid (chemical form of vitamin C). Our Natural Source Vitamin C has a 100milligrams equivalent of ascorbic acid per serving, supplying 110 percent of the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA). However, the natural synergy of the vitamin C complex and bioflavonoids provides much more powerful antioxidant activity than synthetic vitamin C (ascorbic acid) does alone. Vitamin C plays an essential role in the formation of collagen, connective tissue that is required for normal maintenance. I have purchased two jars, but recently began to notice a little cramping immediately after taking it, and then noticed that there is a bit of wheat in these, which surprised me. As I have gluten issues, this supplement will no longer work for me. However, for anyone who does not, I do recommend it highly. Its ingredients are natural and I had researched them before purchasing, but online there is no mention of wheat--it only appears at the very bottom of the ingredients list along with soy, as an addendum, which makes me think it is just a case of the product being manufactured on shared equipment. The main ingredients, otherwise, are: Acerola berry, wild spanish orange, powdered honey, blackstrap molasses, and arrowroot. I will probably keep my eye on this product occasionally, in case the manufacturer eventually decides to switch to dedicated equipment, so that I can order it again.
