The 6 wasn't as described - far too soft. We were able to exchange the tops for a $200 fee, which was our only option short of throwing out this $1000 purchase. The new tops were more firm, but within 6 months had developed noticeable divots when laying in the bed. The middle of the bed (which doesn't get slept on as much) is still quite firm, and provides a clear contrast. I'm 6 ft 160lbs, not a big dude. Another reviewer accurately described it as a "hammock". I called customer service and it looks like we have the option of buying new tops for $200, which MIGHT help temporarily, but at this point it looks like we'd be throwing good money after bad. Really disappointing that we couldn't get more than 3 years out of a bed - our last queen basic box spring mattress was going strong for 10 years and still works well as a guest bed. 2 stars for helpful customer service. ### ⭐ My "Ultimate Dream" hasn't lived up to the hype *by J***N on Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2017* I purchased this mattress about a year ago after doing copious amounts of research and have very mixed feelings about it.Starting with the positives, the quality of construction on this mattress is second to none - it's built like a tank and you really can tell this company cares about its products. Also, Chuck - the company's representative - was fantastic to communicate with.On the downside, for the cost of the mattress, I was anticipating on a return on the investment of at least 5-7 years. At this stage of the game, after only one year, I'm already considering tossing it for a traditional spring mattress from a chain store. The first interchangable latex topper I got with the mattress was a number '6' and within a month, I was sleeping in a giant divot and getting no back support. At 6'2 and 170 lbs, I really thought it would hold my frame much better than that. So, I exchanged it for a '4', which started off well for 4 months and ever since then, I've been sleeping in a divot. The exchange I planned on making didn't go as planned though, as it was impossible for me to fit the old topper into the box for the new topper to make the return. I cinched it as tight as I could with rope and it didn't even come close to fitting, so I just tossed it and was out $200.Now, I have to decide whether to pony up another $200 to try the '2', or ditch the whole thing and start from square one with another brand. I feel like the potential for this mattress is off the charts, as exhibited by the high ratings here on Amazon, but my experience has really been a let down. Yelp reviews confirm that I'm far from the only one encountering terrible customer service with an exchange.After paying another $200 deposit on a piece of latex last year - for the opportunity to exchange it with my old one for a rebate - I was given a box that was too small. It's impossible to squeeze the old latex into the size it arrived in when it was shrink-wrapped, so I couldn't send it back. I then contacted the company recently to set things straight. They proceeded to tell me that the exchange window had closed and my they would not accept my latex for a rebate. Nor would they provide suitable means to ship it back to them. All they did was mischarachterize the situation to absolve themselves of any responsibility. This whole process is an absolute scam and I'll be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. Anything they write in response to this, short of accepting full responsibility, is 100% spin to downplay the reality of their shortcomings. I've never encountered customer service that was this unable to provide said service. Ultimate Dreams? More like Ultimate Nightmare. It was easy to set up once I ordered and assembled a foundation. The reviews I had read indicated that the mattress tends to be on the firm side, so I ordered a 5 to have a medium firm mattress. I think a 5 is a medium and I should have ordered a 3-4. However, Chuck has been more than helpful and assured me that I could exchange the top latex layer for a firmer one, but suggested I wait a couple weeks to adjust first, so that's where I'm at currently. Foam mattresses don't have a firm edge to sit on if you're used to a more traditional mattress. Even so, I do like the general support of this mattress and feel better with latex than memory foam.A word to the wise: Amazon charges a commission (understandably) which made this purchase significantly more expensive than had I ordered directly from the seller.
