I bought these to make some custom mounts for my Google Nest cameras so I could attach them along with larger IR illuminators to my metal barn. Yes, the Nest cameras stick to metal, but I needed to achieve an angle of view that the camera and its mount found difficult. The magnets are beasts and hold well to the building. **Q: bolt thickness?  3/8"?**

**Q: Is it the neodymium magnets?**
A: I cannot tell, the base is covered with steel over the magnet. It is very strong and the thicker the metal the stronger it holds. I think they are a great value. Using mine to hold LED portable lights I use.

**Q: Are these strong enough to be used as a rooftop light bar holder for speeds at/near 60 MPH?**
A: Light bars may weigh ounces to many pounds with a wide range of air resistance so an accurate answer is impossible .
However, I can say, this magnet is very, very strong!  I have to pry it off a steel plate with pliers.
Suggestion....if using on your vehicle put very thin rubber mat under it so it doesn't leave a rust mark or scratches.  Also, there are larger, stronger ones on Amazon.

**Q: What is the pitch size of the thread.  M-8 x 1.25  or M-8 x 1 ?**
A: Interesting that supplier has not replied. Mine were 1/4-20 on a different magnet. From the pictures they appear to be more 1.25 coarse than 1.00 fine thread.
