This is for a mix of different mosses and lichens so you can build your own terrarium. You will receive 2 quart bags full. 1 bag will contain a nice mixture of mosses (what is currently fresh such as feather, rockcap, etc.) and the other bag will contain other goodies such as rare lichens, forest floor plants, etc. We give nice kits that will make a nice terrarium. You may not get exactly everything mentioned, but it will be a good variety! A lot of the cost for terrariums is in the container itself. Most people have a vast supply of containers such as old jars, water pitchers, and even vintage glassware. You can use almost any cleaned container for your own unique look. Your order will be harvested fresh by us here at Appalachian Emporium. We do not order our moss from other sources as some sellers do. What you receive comes direct from our own private tract of land, so we know that it has not been exposed to any contaminants, ensuring fresh, healthy specimens. Review: Easy and hardy moss/lichen variety for beginners, Most happy being watered every day - Love this moss! I’ve had it for over a month now and it has been a great addition to my plants! I put some in my shower on coconut fiber and it has been super happy with very low light. I put some in a pot with much more sunlight and less water (see pictures) so it’s not as dark green and happy, but I’m still happy with how it looks. I’ve ordered from their website directly too which I highly recommend as well. Tips: I soaked the moss when I first got it for several hours so they could rehydrate thoroughly. No need to panic if there are only a few little bugs and no eggs! There were a few ants and a few tiny centipedes, but without a queen ant or eggs the ants disappeared and the centipedes didn’t have any little bugs to sustainably live. Review: Nice variety! - My moss kit arrived yesterday. There were at least 6 different types of moss, each with several pieces, as well as a really beautiful lichen specimen. My assortment didn't have any plants, but I think there is a tiny seedling in one of the moss pieces so we'll see if it will thrive. I was able to fully plant my 6x12 terrarium as well as two tiny side terrariums with some moss left over that I'm keeping for future use. Definitely value for money, now let's see if I can keep these sweet babies alive. ## Features - Includes Appalachian Emporium's Moss Care Sheet ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B00DTKMX62 | | Best Sellers Rank | #736,918 in Arts, Crafts & Sewing ( See Top 100 in Arts, Crafts & Sewing ) #555 in Floral Moss | | Brand | Appalachian Emporium | | Brand Name | Appalachian Emporium | | Color | Green | | Customer Reviews | 4.2 out of 5 stars 48 Reviews | | Manufacturer | Appalachian Emporium | | Moisture Needs | Moderate Watering | | Product Care Instructions | water | | Soil Type | Sandy Soil | | Unit Count | 1 Count | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Appalachian Emporium - **Color:** Green - **Moisture Needs:** Moderate Watering - **Product Care Instructions:** water - **Soil Type:** Sandy Soil - **Unit Count:** 1 Count ## Images ![Appalachian Emporium's Live Moss Variety Assortment Cladonia Lichens Kit Mix for Terrariums Vivariums Bonsai Gardens - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61m+CoNcqfL.jpg) ![Appalachian Emporium's Live Moss Variety Assortment Cladonia Lichens Kit Mix for Terrariums Vivariums Bonsai Gardens - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/A1PfWAL8yqL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: Can this moss be blended with beer or buttermilk to make a paint to cover more space?** A: Yes it can. It is usually a mix of feather, sheet, mood and sometimes cushion moss, all 100% natural. **Q: How many small terrariums will this accomodate?** A: Depends on the terrarium, but I still have some left and already covered many bonsai trees. I love the variety! **Q: Is the moss pesticide free? Are there any bugs found in it?** A: Hello, it is pesticide-free and comes directly from the forest. We do check for bugs but since we don't use pesticides there's no guarantee there won't be any in the moss. **Q: What should you do to get rid of any bugs that might be present - soaking in something or an insecticide?** A: Submerge in water overnight. You might have to do this twice, but let the moss dry out a bit between soaks. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy and hardy moss/lichen variety for beginners, Most happy being watered every day *by A***L on August 14, 2020* Love this moss! Arrived healthy and even earlier than expected. I ordered two bags but unfortunately wasn’t enough to cover my terrarium coffee table. So I’ll need to order another bag. ## Frequently Bought Together - Appalachian Emporium's Live Moss Variety Assortment Cladonia Lichens Kit Mix for Terrariums Vivariums Bonsai Gardens - Tin Roof Treasure Super Fairy Garden Assortment Moss and Lichen for Terrarium, 6"x9" Bag - Tin Roof Treasure Live Terrarium Moss Assortment --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.tn/products/9280794-appalachian-emporiums-live-moss-variety-assortment-cladonia-lichens-kit-mix](https://www.desertcart.tn/products/9280794-appalachian-emporiums-live-moss-variety-assortment-cladonia-lichens-kit-mix) --- *Product available on Desertcart Tunisia* *Store origin: TN* *Last updated: 2026-10-01*
