Product Description Pour the Perfect Glass of Wine Step 1: Pour the entire contents of your wine bottle into the decanter. Step 2: Allow the wine to breathe for at least 30 minutes. The flavour will improve over the course of several hours. Step 3: Pour your wine from the decanter into your glass or your guest’s. Remember to store your decanter in a cupboard away from dust. Removing Sediment Older red wines tend to produce more sediment as they age. You can separate this sediment from the clear wine by doing the following Leave the wine bottle upright for 24 hours for complete separation between the clear liquid and the sediment. Then, hold a light under the bottle neck such as a candle or torch. Pour the wine slowly into the decanter without stopping, and when you get to the bottom half of the bottle, pour even more slowly. Review: Nice decanter that does its job in improving high tannin wines - I have bought a lot of French and Bordeaux wines that do require decanting, some of which can be drunk young if decanted. High tannin wines that take time to develop are better drank decanted, so you decant wines, not because it looks good, but be some wines require it so that you can enjoy the wine at its best. This is a high quality decanter, easy to clean, (including the wooden stopper), quite sturdy, looks stylish, and functional in doing what it was meant for.

**Q: Is this suitable for whiskey?**
A: I personally would not put Whisky in a wine decanter as Whisky does not need aerating. You will get a lot of evaporation by putting whisky in this decanter due to the stopper not being air tight. I personally leave my whisky in their own bottles. Its entirely up to you though. If you think your whisky looks nice in it then why not. You might need to finish your Whisky quickly in this which is always a positive.

**Q: Just started to get into nice wines and wanted to use one of these. How long would you leave a wine in this before drinking?**
A: Putting it in the decanter passes air through it enhancing the flavour, leave it to warm to room temp. Often leave red wine in the decanter for 3-4 days and its still fine

**Q: Does the oak stopper keep the wine fresh overnight if I don't manage to finish the bottle?**
A: Yes I've always found that it does, as long as the wine is kept in a relatively cool place (ie. not in the sun). Interestingly some wines tasted even better the next day.

**Q: Does this come boxed?**
A: Yes! Big box with polystyrene packaging to protect it fully.I keep mine in the box when not in use - but it's nice presentation for a gift too.Thin glass but really attractive, I've very happy with mine

I have bought a lot of French and Bordeaux wines that do require decanting, some of which can be drunk young if decanted. High tannin wines that take time to develop are better drank decanted, so you decant wines, not because it looks good, but be some wines require it so that you can enjoy the wine at its best. This is a high quality decanter, easy to clean, (including the wooden stopper), quite sturdy, looks stylish, and functional in doing what it was meant for.

Well balanced decanter, simple plain design which I like, not the thickest of glass but strong enough and keeps the weight down, quite an open neck making cleaning easier, it I still use decanter balls for a good clean. Overall good value for a classic simple decanter.
