I’ve used it twice. I was given a host glass as a retirement gift four years ago, and I have used it a lot without any problems. The only thing I’d say is if you drink a glass of wine slowly and decide to have a second, the glass has pretty much lost it’s peak performance as the gel starts melting. That is why I purchased this product, to have for that second glass, at peak performance. As for care, I hand wash only, store upside down so the gel goes all the way around and to the top of the glass. They stay in the freezer always this way, always ready. I did hear a pop when I filled the glass, which made me worry it cracked, but it did not. I think it was just a reaction of the ice and a liquid poured into it. The band is not part of the interior of glass. The glass is seamless on the inside. If this works like my four year old one, I will be very pleased.
