I guess only the manufacturer/supplier can answer that question. I have not noticed any discoloration...although I wear it outside on my shirt, which is preferred by me to show it. I do know that it is a strikingly beautiful medal with very clear features and message I have received many compliments on it. It serves to start meaningful conversations.
