Having a colored case, along with a caribiner to hold the Airpods on to a belt buckle or inside loop of my satchel or backpack is an extra assurance that I won't make that $159 plus tax mistake again. The case protects the bottom part of the Airpod case pretty well but to be honest I don't think the case is very vulnerable to breakage under normal circumstances.The case seems to be made of a really nice quality rubber and the caribiner is just a normal non-climbing quality caribiner.
