There used to be an almost identical whisk made by another company with a longer, Bakelite handle - however, that product wasn't stainless steel, is no longer available and in fact I think the company has gone out of business. Since mine gave up the ghost, it has been sorely missed and I was overjoyed to find this one. Sure, there are some things it is not ideal for, but THERE IS NO BETTER WHISK FOR COOKING. Do you make gravy? Tapioca pudding? Any of the many other dishes that need to be constantly stirred over a high heat or they will burn? That is where the design of this whisk really shines. It is the only utensil I know of that can constantly stir while simultaneously scraping the bottom of the pan to prevent sticking and get into all the edges where the sides and bottom meet. With a spoon or a spatula, you can only hope that there are no little spots you have missed, some small area where the milk is starting to stick and burn and give you less than optimal results. Vigorously whisking around the pan with this helps make sure that doesn't happen. I, too, prefer other whisks for general mixing - but they just don't cut it on the stove.
