We wanted to let sunlight into the bathrooms, enjoy the trees and sky without sacrificing privacy.I had thought of getting a valance with a lower tier, but could find none that worked or came in sets. I had also toyed with the possibility of getting plantation cafe shades for the bottom, but they are expensive and difficult to measure for and install. And then I came upon this perfect solution.QUALITY: The quality is phenomenal. They are extremely attractive, and the fabric is very pretty. They do not look cheap. You can choose either light-filtering or blackout fabric. They glide up and down with a single finger. You can open and close them effortlessly, and they have a lovely range of color choices. They feel solid and tight, as though you will be able to depend on them for years.EASE OF USE: Given how easy they are to open and close, it's a cinch to close them at will for privacy, and then open up to let the sun pour in (see photos).APPEARANCE ON WINDOW: We open them to the middle sash when not being used for privacy and they become virtually "invisible" on the window; you don't know they are there; this makes it possible to enjoy the view and the outdoors. And then we just close them on the bottom for privacy when showering, etc. You can also extend them the full height of the window, but we love the view of the sky and trees and the sunlight, so we just cover the bottom half of the window.INSTALLATION: It actually took less than one minute to install if you have a drill. There are 2 "L-shaped" brackets. You attach them with 2 screws each to either the inside the frame or on the front of the frame or above the frame, depending on your desired window dressing. Then you simply snap the shade into the 2 brackets. That's it!We are going to buy them for all the windows on the 2nd floor of our home (bedrooms, office, etc.).Don't hesitate! We couldn't be happier. They were delivered so much faster and for a fraction of the price we would have paid at a big box store. We had several reps from stores come out to our home to try to sell a very similar product. Why wait weeks and pay four times more!? I ordered these and they came days before promised! I'm so happy to have privacy but still get plenty of light in my living, kitchen and dining rooms. The top down feature is fantastic, especially when I want to open the top of my windows but still have privacy in the evening. The shades slide up and down with ease and have given my windows a uniform clean look. Also, customer service is top notch. The first order I placed was incorrect because I flipped the height and width measurements so the shade was not wide enough. They were so helpful about the exchange. There are several reasons I love them. First off they are so easy to install and easy to maneuver! My 4 year old daughter easily moves them up and down in her bedroom.
