Thanks **Q: The plug on this charger is not the large round one that goes into the plugin that is on my cart. (If you haven't bought one by now) **Q: Has anyone had problems with this not going into trickle charge mode?** A: Not sure this charger did not work for me didn't charge my golf cart battery **Q: Can this charger be left connected as a trickle/float charger for weeks at a time?** A: Yes that is the exact use for these. They are supposed to be kept plugged in and connected to the golf cart permanently to only be disconnected when you use the cart. The charger has a smart chip which will STOP the flow of electricity once the batteries reached full charge. This is a slow charger not a fast charger meaning it has to be kept plugged in to the cart overnight or 24 hours if the batteries are completely empty. Put it to work charging my 36 volt golf cart almost daily. Worked as advertised and I was quite impressed with the product. Considered it a good value in all regards. All was well until 10/25/2016 when it quit working. I did some research and found it was covered by a 1 year warranty. Sent a warranty return inquiry to Seller Newgate—iMeshbean via Amazon Message Center on 10/27/16.( NO RESPONSE EVER!. ) After not hearing from the Seller Newgate—iMeshbean, I sent a warranty return request via Amazon Message Center to Amazon Seller ; and I assume the Manufacturer, ProgRama on 11/03/16. Received a reply within a day. They confirmed the product’s warranty and provided instruction for returning the failed product, as well as an apology. I shipped the product to them on 11/06/16, and they received it 11/08/16. I received a new replacement product 11/12/16. Great product and REALLY GREAT customer service fromProgRama. I have reviewed several products on Amazon and have never given a 5 star, but in this case the product and the exceptional customerservice deserve it. We leave it charging overnight and the golf cart actually charges higher than before, without the noise and hassle since this charger is so small it fits inside the tiny storage compartment.
