I have never had one yet be inaccurate or slow to fill. **Q: how long is the hose?** A: The hose prior to attaching any accessory is 18"...not quite sure where some of these other numbers are coming from? **Q: I have a small electric compressor with a 1/4 inch female threaded output, how can I attach it to this gauge??** A: An ordinary male/female coupler. **Q: Can it check pressure by itself or do I have to be hook up to compress air?** A: Yes - you can check pressure without being connected to an air compressor. Use it like you would any other tire pressure gauge. BONUS TIP, you can deflate tire fast when you squeeze down on the trigger when not connected to air compressor. However, be careful because you may blow past your desire tire pressure. It "locks" on to your valve stem, which allows you to easily control the digital display and squeeze the handle to add air. I check our vehicles every other week and this is a time saver and more accurate then using my standard tire gauge. This clips on the tire valve stem, you inflate tire to desired pressure and let off lever. Done! If you over pressure, just press the deflate button to release air to desired pressure. I just purchased a second one as a gift for my son.
