Proximity to magnets is not good for automatic and manual wind watches, which is what I had intended to store in this case. Maybe the strength of the magnet is not enough to actually affect my watches, but I don't want to take chances. The website description makes no mention of the magnetic lid closure otherwise I would not have bought it. For those who have only battery powered quartz watches, this is a not a concern making this a nice case overall for the price.
