Review: If you know what a wire-nut is, these belong in your toolkit. - I was introduced to WAGO products at work, where we manufacture custom training equipment for airlines and the military. WAGO is a european company that specializes in high-quality, high-reliability electrical connection products. In the past few years, WAGO has begun marketing some of their products to consumers, and their line of LEVER-NUTS connectors is one of those products. These are also sold to industrial and professional customers -- they aren't some cheapie knock-off. These connectors are amazing -- with one device you can reliably join wire from 22 gauge to 12 gauge, solid or stranded, mix-and-match. And the connections are SOLID -- these use a variety of WAGO's "cage-clamp" connector that uses spring-loaded contacts and geometry to create a connection that actually tightens under vibration and tension, rather than loosening and failing like screw connections, wire-nuts and IDC connectors. If you ever have to join wires that you can't easily solder, these connectors are the next best thing -- or perhaps it's a tie. To operate, you pull the orange lever away from the body to 90 degrees, insert the (stripped) wire, and snap the lever back. You're done. The levers can be a little stiff the first time you operating them, but have faith -- they are very strong polymer. Each port in these connectors is reusable without degradation, and each port can (although not recommended) be used with multiple (small) wires at the same time. They should be the same size and type (solid vs stranded) however, and not twisted together.
Review: Absolutely love these! - (In case it doesn't specify, my review is for the 3-hole version, but I would assume the other ones work just as wonderfully) - - Honestly these things are a great idea and work flawlessly. The only "problem" i had was due to my own ignorance in how to use them - i thought i only had to lift the levers until they were "loose" to open the connector, but quickly found out that you have to flip the lever all the way up (until it sort of clicks into place, straight up) to actually do so. Watch your fingers when closing a lever, as they close with a decent amount of force. Not going to result in injury by any means at all, but they will give your finger a good flick. Anyway these things hold onto a wide range of wire gauges and work flawlessly with both solid and stranded wires. And when I say "hold onto" i mean they really aren't letting that wire go unless you're really, really trying. Another nice/unexpected feature is the small slot in the top of the connector for inserting a multimeter probe for testing/measurement. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to recommend these to anyone. ALSO i would absolutely recommend buying these official WAGO ones and not some "clone" product made by another company but made to look like it's a WAGO, as I've heard the unofficial versions have bad quality issues. *I PAID FULL PRICE FOR THESE AND MY REVIEW WAS NOT REQUESTED OR INFLUENCED IN ANY WAY!* wanted to clarify that :)

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ They've earned a place in my e-toolbox
*by M***N on October 9, 2017*

My daughters asks, "What's grey and crispy and hangs from the ceiling?" Answer: amateur electricians. Yes dear, I know there's a way to turn off the breaker that doesn't involve sparks, but this way is faster! Wiring 101: gather the basic tools for working inside an outlet box: a regular screwdriver, needle-nose pliers, wire strippers, a utility knife, linesman pliers, and standard wire nuts. To wire like a boss, also grab the cordless driver, a square #1 bit (switch/outlet screws box screws), a square #2 bit (outlet/switch terminal screws), and some 3 and 5 conductor (221-413 & 221-415) Wago lever nuts. I don't buy the two conductor lever nuts because when there's just two wires in a box, it's usually an outlet and the stripped wires are connected to the terminals. The rest of the time, I use 3-conductor nuts and leave a slot empty. I tried the 773-164 (4-conductor) push nuts but rarely use them. They're harder to insert, incompatible with braided wire, and require clipping the wires to disconnect. If there's any chance I'll be in the box again, future me is happier I used a 5-conductor lever nut instead. Aside: the correct way to install a twist nut is to grip the stripped wire ends with your linesman pliers and twist the stripped wires and a couple inches of insulated portion tightly together. It's quite easy when you have the correct tool. The twisting will solidly connect the wires and a nut is not even needed to keep them firmly joined. Then screw on a twist nut, as conductor insulation and insurance that the tightly braided connection stays that way as we delicately (hah!) mash the bundle of wires into the box. These Wago connectors are different than twist nuts in few ways. 1. there's no need to twist the wires together, just strip and clip. Because the wires are all straight, it's generally easier to bend a few individual wires than to bend a twisted bundle. 2. the older 3-conductor lever nuts (222-413) are chubby and take up more room inside boxes. In 3" recessed can fixtures with the smaller boxes I bend the grounds one way, the neutrals another, and the load yet another, so they can all nest inside the box. The newer 221-413 lever nuts are smaller and that's never been an issue. 3. If there's a braided wire in the mix (common in light fixtures), having separate connections for each wire is fantastically better than any other type of connector. Twist nuts mangle the braided wires and often require more than one assembly to get a firm connection. Lever nuts work every single time.
