I've not used the Hitachi so I can't compare its power, but the Mystic Wand has a nice strong rumbly vibration - the third setting can even be too much for me sometimes. During longer play sessions I eventually go numb from any of the settings. Cycling through the settings to get back to what you want if you go past it is a minor annoyance. Size-wise it's bigger than other toys I've used (my other go-to is a Layaspot), but smaller than other wand toys. The carrying pouch is nice to have since the silicone head is prone to picking up dust.The symbols to show you how to put in the batteries are a little vague; it would be easy to put them in wrong. But for being a battery powered toy, the batteries last quite a while! I'm using just plain ol' dollar store batteries and they've lasted me through several uses and are still going strong. This is not a quiet toy, but if you put on some music or a fan it probably won't be heard through a closed door. It will start off vibrating at the correct frequency but within seconds will fade into a weak vibration that I can only feel if I grip the head with my hand. I've changed the batteries three time so I know it's not the power source.
