Also the freezer has just a simple dial control and you don't know what the actual freezer temp is so could be wasting energy...The key thing I found is power up the sensors first and then the receiver unit, also you may need to move the receiver close enough to get a decent signal first rather than it trying to search at its limit and then place it where you want it.Our receiver sits on the kitchen window, 10m (32ft) from the sensor inside the freezer which is sat at the back of the shed with steel racking alongside it, this seems to be a safe range and pretty good considering the price.Not sure about battery life yet as we've only had it working for a few weeks.We have a Hive digital thermostat and the receiver room reading compared against that is +/- 1.5 deg so good enough for its purpose.Also it tells you what the min/max readings have been which is useful. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Warning Min/Max resets every 24 hours *by M***S on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 August 2022* Good little unit, but suffers from design flaw which causes the min and max recorded values to be reset every day.This happens approx 24 hours after batteries have been inserted into the main display unit. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works well. 5 stars with some reservations. *by D***S on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 September 2020* This kit has just arrived and I have done preliminary testing on it. So far, so good: It works well.Firstly, do not believe any reviews that say it comes with batteries. It doesn't. You will need 2 x AAA alkaline and 4 x AA lithium (lithium if the intended use is in the freezer, otherwise alkaline).Secondly, the main unit battery compartment is hinkey and the batteries don't necessarily make a good connection first time. Also the compartment door falls off at a moment's notice. This is no real problem, though, once the batteries are installed and the unit is operating and attached to the freezer door with its 4 strong magnets.Once all batteries were installed, the device recognized the sensors within 15 seconds and even when they are in the freezer, receives a signal at least 6 metres away. I had misgivings for the range since the sensors are essentially in a metal box, but all seems to work well. Edit: The base unit if installed in the house appears to be able to receive a good signal from a sensor in the freezer in the garage around 15 metres away! Good range.Sensors: These in NO WAY look at all waterproof. The battery door fits, but there are gaps. If you put them in a fridge or freezer, I recommend at the very least to place them in a sealed plastic bag.
