Truth is price-less. Can we afford not to know?

*by W***S on Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2013*

The was the best, most worthwhile $2.99 I have ever spent. I can say, a little tongue-in-cheek, that the truth is "cheap", so cheap that the mainstream media channels didn't and don't want to feature it. The truth can't get anymore affordable than $2.99, and it can't possibly be more immediate and easier to access than on Kindle, so why isn't everyone reading this?Mary Fischer did an excellent job of bringing the truth to light through her meticulous investigative journalism, researching into the background of the Chandlers and the events that surround their accusation of MJ in 1993. The tale that she unravels is shocking. What is shocking is not MJ and his "suspected" conduct, but the utterly ruthless, selfish, manipulative, lying, scheming, awfulness that is Evan Chandler, his crook of a lawyer, the psychologist they hooked up with, and their blatant use of a very dubious drug. I mean, any half-way serious investigation into the accusers would have turned up this tale that is so clearly about extortion, so full of suspicious doings, and so full of holes, that it is simply shocking that the police didn't bother to look into it, the media didn't bother to take up the story, and the public is still unaware of the truth, 20 years after Mary Fischer first revealed it.I am shocked that people feel free to pronounce their judgement on MJ without even bothering to read a $2.99 book that would have told them the basics facts of the case. Instead, many people prefer to stick with their biased and uninformed opinions. I am outraged that "reputed" journalists and media presenters like Oprah Winfrey, Barbara Walters, (I won't even mention those media lowlife like Diane Dimond who made a living by making MJ into a monster) and so on don't even bother to read relevant articles and books about their subjects before interviewing them or speaking about them to the public. It really makes me wonder how these people can feel so entitled to make judgement on MJ, before they even gather the facts about this person or a situation that involves them. What is this terrible hubris that has gripped them as far as MJ is concerned? It is important to point out that the 2005 case is a replay of 1993. The persecuting lawyer for the Arvisos is the same lawyer that represented the Chandlers. The clinical psychologist who evaluated Arviso is the same person who evaluated Chandler. The D.A. Tom Sneddon spent all the years between 1993 and 2005 trying to gather evidence for a case against Michael Jackson, spending millions of taxpayer's money in the process. Despite all his efforts, he did not have a case, yet he brought the largest criminal lawsuit in American judicial history against Michael Jackson, and he LOST, because there was simply NO CASE. STILL, the media and many people have the perception that Michael Jackson was guilty, despite ALL EVIDENCE to the contrary. So WHY was Michael Jackson on trial? They persecuted Michael Jackson for alleged child molestation, but the real reason he was on trial was because he was different. People were and are so ready to believe the worst about MJ because he looked different and he acted different and he had the courage to be different. This book upholds the truth of Michael's innocence in the face of society's willingness to persecute MJ out of a deep-seated and unexamined fear of difference. By unfairly persecuting MJ and ignoring the evidence of his innocence, such as that revealed in this book, American society wrote a terrible and infamous page into its own history. The day this story uncovered by Mary Fischer becomes main-stream is the day that American society would have confronted its own fears, found its own conscience, and made peace with its own terrible history. Otherwise, this society remains blind to the sad fact that it ruthlessly persecuted its most brilliant artiste, dehumanized him beyond all recognition, and then drove him to an early grave. Taking a general anaesthetic like propofol to get some sleep is a very extreme step. We are part of a society that literally hounded a man (and what caliber of a man! - a childlike and innocent man, a musical and artistic genius, a great humanitarian, a sensitive god-loving soul, a rare gentleman, a courageous human being....) so brutally, so relentlessly and so unfairly that he (who never used to touch alcohol or drugs) eventually had to rely on a powerful anesthetic just to get some rest and mental relief. What is the true price of truth? On one scale, you have $2.99. On another, the life of an extra-ordinarily gifted and extra-ordinarily giving human being. Is this man, his life-long contributions to society, his truth, not worth $2.99? Not worth $2.99 of your money and your time to find out? You can choose not to spend $2.99, but then you are really cheapening yourself and your life. Then you are really cheapening the truth now, driving it to absolute nothingness, scraping the barrel. You can't go any lower than that you know, if you choose to ignore a truth that is so blatantly in your face. Rather than doing that, reach out now for that glittering truth, which has to power to redeem us all. Our honesty, our love, our integrity, and our innocence can be restored, if only we dare to see MJ's truth, our truth, society's truth. The worth of this book cannot be measured in dollar terms of $2.99. It is priceless.

    A story that needs telling

*by K***H on Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2012*

This reprint of a GQ article by Mary Fischer is about the Chandler accusations against Michael Jackson in the 1990s... a sordid story of money grubbing greed that, despite the title of this book-format reprint, threatened to, but didn't, bring down a superstar. However, that the accusations impacted Michael's career and, especially, his health is obvious in retrospect. The fact that they also paved the way for the 2005 court case based on similar accusations by another family who took advantage of MJ's generosity is another reason why the truth needs to be told. And having been told, it needs to be re-told, until the most doubting and sceptical of MJ's critics finally accepts it.What is the truth? Merely, that Michael Jackson was an extremely generous man who loved and wanted to help children, but who also could be very naive in terms of who was deserving of his help and trust. He believed in the innocence of children, seemingly without, in some cases, taking into account the selfish motivations of their parents. This is just one piece of the much larger story of how greedy adults ruined nurturing relationships Michael Jackson had with their children - the kind of nurturing that saw others he mentored go on to have successful careers for which they have gladly given MJ due credit. We know now that karma appears to have exacted its price on those responsible for the Chandler scandal... sadly Michael Jackson is no longer here in person to receive due benefit of the media's revisiting of the matter. At least the reprinting of Ms Fischer's article will help even in a small way to right some of the wrongs suffered by him for the sake of his children and his legacy, and also his millions of fans throughout the world. I can only hope so.(For a comprehensive account of the 2005 court case I recommend
