My rope lights measure just a smidgeon under 1/2 in in diameter with calipers.Fyi, I have used these clips in the past, and I just use black drywall screws instead of the (PITA) 'tiny' screws that came in pkg. Just drive them in at a somewhat slower speed. No need to drill out hole!My previous set (different brand but look exactly the same) lasted approx. 8-9 years in the torturous Colorado sun.
