The German version is great, much better picture quality than the dvd, more detail, and good sound. But be warned, every time anyone speaks in Fremen, or uses hand signals, the translation appears on screen in German. As it is not technically a subtitle, so you get no choice. I have actually re watched the same scenes on dvd and written out the A4 pages of dialog.Still, I am thrilled to have this miniseries on Blu Ray. The story follows 2 of the a Dune books, Children of Dune and a Dune Messiah. The acting is excellent. You can tell at times that the actors were on a green screen set, but the CGI is generally very good. The vision of a Dune and costuming is wonderful. Whilst it will never have the budget of the original film, it was a wonderful to see a "continuation" of the Dune saga on the screen.And for those wanting to know what the German says, here is the dialogue....EPISODE ONEReverend Mother:Does the Emperor know you are here?Princess Irulan:Of course. The production's precursor was fairly faithful to the source material, certainly more so than film. It features a strong cast, with some re-casting from 'Frank Herbert's Dune'. The CGI special effects are not the best quality, which gives this something of a low-budget feel, which is a shame. This production features significant compression of the story (which let's face it, 'Children of Dune' can easily handle). Part one is based on 'Dune Messiah' and parts two and three, 'Children of Dune'. I can imagine anyone who watches this who is unfamiliar with the source material would find it quite confusing. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So Much Better Than "Frank Herbert's Dune" DVD *by L***N on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 June 2018* This is so much better, in all aspects, over the production of "Frank Herbert's Dune" DVD - for which I left a mediocre review. I very nearly didn't bother buying Children of Dune, fearing the same lacklustre production. However I'm certainly glad I bought the DVD! Children of Dune is a two disc DVD: the first being a slightly abridged, but well presented, version of Dune Messiah, and the second disc covers the story (again somewhat abridged) of Children of Dune. I wish the original Dune production was to this quality.
