My pit did not include an ash pan when purchased. The unit is of superior quality as compared to that those sold as original equipment/replacement by the some grill manufacturers. (I've owned multiple Char-Griller brand grills that included similar ash pans.) The metal is heavier (more substantial) and the workmanship is likewise, superior.
