It’s a soft(ish) plastic material but he hasn’t chewed through it at all and we’ve had it for several weeks now(and he’s a decently tough chewer!) though he mostly just rolls it around for the treats and doesn’t use it as a chew toy. It also smells good, NOT like stinky rubber. I thought the treats would fall out really quickly when I first opened it and saw the simple design but it takes him a while to get them out and sometimes he’ll give up with one left inside and/or bring us the ball and drop it at our feet and bark, essentially asking for assistance—too funny! Always had the larger one (which is made of harder plastic, better for large dogs). Our dog is now a senior and has aging teeth. She had some difficulty lifting the larger one, so we downsized. The smaller one fits her mouth better and it’s softer for her to manage. She is trained not to chew or destroy her toys, so this works. If your pet chews, I would recommend a harder surface. This style is best (we have tried multiple) and doesn’t just dump treats out. It’s rolled around and drops out 1-3 morsels (we use small dog kibble for treat ball only) and the dog rolls it all around working it out. Seeing my dog with this caused multiple family and friends to purchase. They are made well. We still have our original.
