The dyeing will work better if you rub the shell with a cloth dipped in vinegar until the shell loses it's gloss. That can take a while. Also, the first color you use, usually yellow, may take a while to work. Make sure you plug the hole in the egg with beeswax. **Q: what is the size of the drilled hole? Is it possible to purchase with a larger opening?** A: I would say the hole is about 5/8 inch to 3/4 inches across.
