## Overview

The K&H Stock Tank Deicer is a 500W thermostatically controlled heater designed to prevent freezing in livestock water tanks. It operates automatically to maintain water just above freezing, saving energy while ensuring animals have constant access to fresh water. Versatile for floating or submersible use, it fits all tank types without extra cages. Safety certified beyond UL standards, it offers reliable winter performance tailored to your climate with multiple wattage options.

## Description

The K&H Ultimate Stock Tank Deicer helps keep fresh water accessible for horses, livestock, and outdoor animals during freezing winter weather. Built for versatility and efficiency, each unit works as a floating stock tank deicer right out of the box and can be quickly converted to a submersible deicer with the click of a button. Unlike many traditional stock tank heaters, K&H deicers are designed for use in all stock tanks without extra shrouds or cages. Multiple wattage options make it easier to choose the right model for your climate, tank size, and winter watering needs. Each deicer includes a cord safety clip that secures the unit to the edge of a stock tank, bucket, or container to help reduce chewing, cribbing, or removal from the water. Use the included zone chart to select the correct de-icer for your region and application. Ideal as a floating deicer, submersible deicer, livestock water heater, or winter stock tank heater, the K&H Ultimate Stock Tank Deicer provides reliable cold-weather water access with energy-conscious options. IMPORTANT: The heating element must remain submerged during use. This deicer keeps an open space in the ice; it will not warm water much above freezing.

Review: Effective de icers for water tanks - Work great. Keeps my 75 gallon tank from freezing in the winter. It is hard to find something between the 1500 watt and the low watt bucket de icers. These fit the bill at 500 watts. I like that you can choose between letting them float or sink.
Review: Works great! - This product kept my 55 gallon stock tank from freezing. We had 20 F last night and with the use of my owlfeed slotted nipple neither my tank nor the nipple froze or has any ice in them. I removed the flotation ring and allowed the heated to sink to the bottom of the tank where the nipple is located. Highly recommended unless you want to have to deal with watering your animals twice a day in freezing temps. I do use this with a GFI receptacle in conjunction with a 100' extension cord. The use of an extension cord is not recommended according to the vendor instructions, but who has an outlet next to their animal pens? UPDATE; I purchased another one of these for another stock tank. I noticed the "304W" stamped on the tang of the heating element. I contacted the company because in the USA the large "W" means watts...which other posters have commented one. This piece of metal that goes from the heating element to the plastic body is made out of 304 stainless steel and that is the purpose of the "304W" This is an easy to make mistake to assume the "W" means watts, it is only the manufacturers ID stamping. Overall, I am happy with these small units and they function great for the money. I did buy a "thermocube" to positively make sure they are operating in the 35-45 degree F realm. UPDATE #2; as of 3/18 they are still working. I have three now and all still function. I even had one above the water line (the tank was low and not enough cord to go to the bottom), which was on for days inside the tank. Unplugged it, let it cool down for 20min., put back inside the water and it still worked. UPDATE #3; as of 2/20 all three are still working.

### ⭐ Update down to 1star from 5
*by D***M on January 16, 2024*

January 2025 After using this last year for just those few days I put it away. I pulled it out last week because our temps are falling to minus 0 degrees this coming week. I put it in the pond and plugged it in. A couple of nights ago I noticed I couldn’t hear my pond air stone bubbling, everything was off. It had tripped the breaker. 2 resets and it wouldn’t stay on. I moved the heater plug to a different outlet on a different line. The next morning I discovered the second breaker was also tripped. I used this heater less than 2 weeks total. I reached out to the company as it has a 2 year warranty. January 2024 This is the first pond heater I have purchased in years. Normally I have air stones which keeps the ice thin enough that I can poke holes easily for air exchange. Sometimes I pour hot water over holes to make them bigger. This has worked pretty well for the past couple of years. Before that there were a couple of years of no frozen pond. (Pretty amazing because I live in Colorado.) The past week our temps dropped to below zero with wind chill in minus double digits. We also had snow. I decided I didn’t want to deal with it. I ordered this heater, made a hole with a pot set on the ice with boiling water and dropped the heater in. The hole was just large enough. The very top of the heater iced up but there was an ice free rim around the heater. Two days later I discovered the heater had been secretly melting the ice from below and on the coldest day I had a larger hole than I started with. I will probably only use this when the temps are this cold. Hopefully it will last a long time.
