The meter provides excellent measurements under all light sources, including LEDs. The meter consists of a waterproof quantum sensor attached via waterproof cable to a handheld meter. The waterproof sensor incorporates a blue-enhanced silicon photo-diode and custom optical filters with a rugged, anodized aluminum body with acrylic diffuser. The underwater quantum sensor is typically used in salt water aquariums where corals are grown. Note: The handheld meter is not waterproof, only the sensor and cable are waterproof. The meter has a sample and log mode, and will record an integrated daily total in mol m-2 d-1. Sample mode will record up to 99 manual measurements. Log mode will power the meter on/off to make a measurement every 30 seconds. Every 30 minutes the meter will average the sixty 30 second measurements and record the averaged value to memory. The meter can store up to 99 averages, once full it will start to overwrite the oldest measurement with new ones. An integrated daily total will be recorded from the 48 averaged measurements (making a 24 hr period). Sample and log measurements can be reviewed on the LCD display or by downloading the data to a computer, however, the integrated daily total can only be viewed by downloading the data to a computer. Downloading data to a computer requires the AC-100 communication cable (a standard USB cable will not work) and Apogee AMS software. Instead, it should have included the AM-320 for aquarium use.I purchased this bundle with the assumption that I could use this to measure the PAR for my Marine Aquarium tank. I'm about to add some corals to my tank and want to ensure that I have the correct lighting installed and all. "The MQ-510 underwater quantum sensor is typically used in salt water aquariums where corals are grown", as quoted from the Apogee Instruments web page.After receiving my package, when I opened the sensor wand, there is a big warning label inside : "This product is not suggested for use in salt water". I'm thinking that this can't be correct, Apogee Instruments, who has a whole line of aquarium testing equipment wouldn't put together a bogus package like this. After doing some added investigation, apparently the Apogee AM-320 is for Saltwater Aquarium use, this comes with the AM-310, which apparently is not. So, I wasted an additional $130 for the bundle, when I should have just purchased the MQ-510 and then AM-320 separately.Now I have to go spend an additional $55 for the wand that should have come with this bundle. I definitely should have researched ALL the parts to the bundle vice just believing that the package would have been well put together with thought of who might be purchasing this product. Don't waste your money on this bundle as I did if you're purchasing to measure the PAR for an aquarium.Additional Information : the package comes with some nice lighting information if you're interested in growing your on hemp from Forever Green Indoors.
