My hair is pretty straight and fine to begin with and it gives me that sleek look I like. I have to charge it every time I use it, I guess you can keep it charging all the time. To heat it remove it from the charger. It heats up pretty quickly. Since I don't have thick curly hair, I'm not sure how well it will work. It is convenient and works fine for me. And a few tips... *by I***T on December 20, 2018* I looooove this flat iron!I had another brand that I liked (but it mysteriously died after 3 weeks), so I know these cordless units will never be as powerful as ac/plug-in ones.If you know these don't heat as hot or consistently as a plugged in unit, and have realistic expectations, you'll like this flat iron a lot.I don't love that there's only one heat setting, but honestly, that's just more buttons to accidentally press, so it's not so bad. If you DO find you need it hotter, re-cap it for a minute. It doesn't last long, but it works in a pinch.That said, I don't use this on myself. I probably would for touch ups, but not for doing my hair. But it's perfect for using on my toddler. You get about 25 minutes of use, which is doable. It straightens out the waves from yesterday's braids (and it's small enough to get really close to her scalp, which is great!) and it creates long lasting curls and waves!Some tips:- When using it as a curling iron, the more horizontal you hold it, the curlier the curl.- If you don't want tight corkscrew curls, hold it diagonal to the strand being worked on. For big, looser curls (like a beach wave) hold it completely vertically.- For the fastest full charge, use a 10w or 12w adapter. Output is 5.1V/2.1A, and I've never had to wait 5 hours like some reviewers are saying. Maybe 2 hours max if the battery is totally dead. I use an iPad adapter. Typically, I'll use it for 20 minutes, then put it on a charger for the next day.
