Is this the case?** A: In defense of the contractor I'm sure his hesitation is because your shower installation is complete. To install this chair you have to "drill" holes through the tile work and any waterproofing material he applied prior to installing the tile. AND... because to safely install a wall mounted device, and "before" completing your shower, he would have installed additional stringers / 2x4's in the wall at the proper spacing, to properly carry the advertised weight load of this chair. (NOTE: The horizontal mounting holes in the wall support brackets are 2" apart from left to right). 2x4" wall studs in the US are only 1 1/2" thick so you can only use one of the two vertical rows of mounting holes in each wall bracket. The net result would be the chair / seat being anchored with only two screws in each bracket rather than the 4 mounting holes each bracket provided. **Q: what is the distance from wall when folded?** A: It sticks out from the wall 2" when folded up (the dimension of the wall bracket) and 13-1/4" out from the wall when folded out. **Q: How to take it off the shower wall** A: You pretty much have to tear down the tile or whatever the wall consists of, and get into the sheet rock to remove it. **Q: Where can i see this already installed?** A: Probably nowhere. I already installed. The proper installation is requiring that you attach all screws to the studs left and right. However, this is limiting the position. I had to cut open the wall, reinforce the studs and position them to my liking and then repair the wall and tiles. Then carefully drill through the tiles and attach the bench. It is not simple task. It's beautiful, and after two and a half years of use, the finish is just as good as when it arrived. However, it was hard to install. We are both fairly "handy," but we had to have someone else do it. You forget, when you're buying something like this, that you're going to have to mount it on tile or a tub/shower surround. Turned out to be quite the expensive little project, but it was worth it.
