## Description

Product Description - Pond Shield is a non-toxic epoxy liner, made in the U.S.A designed for the pond and water feature industry. It is used to waterproof and seal water features or ponds with a more designer, formal or natural look than rubber liners. Using Pond Shield epoxy means no more unsightly folds or creases. In addition, unlike rubber liners, there are eleven Standard colors available - Black, Charcoal Gray, Chocolate Brown, Clear, Competition Blue, Delta Blue, Gray, Moss Green, Sky Blue, Tan and White. Pond Shield is used for waterproofing structured surfaces found in water features such as Koi ponds, pools, fountains, aquariums, salt water tanks, hydroponics, streams, waterfalls, reflecting pools, mini lakes, holding tanks, etc. It is easily applied and easy to maintain and for most applications, a single coat application is all that is needed for proper coverage. In addition, your pond will be virtually maintenance free with a surface that algae can be easily wiped off of and is safe for fish (and other wildlife) and plants. Pond Shield offers both strength and flexibility in a coating in fact, strength and flexibility that is tested from -78 Degree F to 140 Degree F. Pond Shield is an epoxy pond liner that has been specifically designed to bond to porous or abraded materials such as concrete, wood, stone, most metals (treated and non-treated), brick, most ridged plastics, tile and many more. With a tensile bond strength stronger than the internal strength of the concrete, a single coat of Pond Shield epoxy will stick to what you apply it to. Over time, hairline cracks can form in concrete, mortar or grout joints. Being flexible, Pond Shield resists mimic cracking in these areas and provides the best protection possible in a coating.

Review: Using pond armor on a galvanized steel stock tank to make it in to a pond! - Steel Stock Tank I had a great experience Making a pond with a galvanized steel stock tank and Pond Armor! The paint is a beautiful glossy blue that is silky smooth! The goldfish look fantastic against the blue, and the water looks clean and pretty. I was really nervous I was gonna mess the paint up, even called pond armor to get some tips about if I needed a primer paint or not and they were really nice and helpful. Turns out I didn’t have to have a primer. I bought rollers, but didn’t use them. The paint brushes worked fine, although twice I had a paintbrush hair that came off, I just picked it up with my fingers and smoothed the surface again with the brush. The paint came out looking smooth and glossy like I professionally sprayed it on or something just with the medium cheep brush. On the first coat I forgot to wear gloves which was a mistake!!! Don’t forget them! I really recommend this paint, I think it turned out great and worth the extra expense. It’s much nicer than a bunched up black liner that actually isn’t cheep. I also think I could have just sanded the tank by hand instead of using the electric sander. Here is the steps and supply list I used. Supplies: 1. pond armor 2. Denatured alcohol 3. Paint sticks 4. White vinegar 5. Spray bottle 6. Sponge 7. 60 grit sand paper 8. Mask 9. 2 paint brushes- medium cheepness because you won’t be able to use the brushes again. 10. Cheep plastic tarp for floor 11. Acetone Incase you need to clean anything you get paint on. 12. Gloves 13. Painters tape 14. Crappy clothes you don’t care if you get paint on them. 15. Screwdriver or paint can opener to open cans. 16. Several plastic painters cups or cheep dollar store measuring cups. Steps: Day one 1. Get supplies and plan project, think of a day when you will have time to do both coats and weather is good. Think of how much paint you will need to cover your tank. My tank was a 90 gallon and I was able to get two coats and had some extra I used to paint some cinderblocks. 2. Sand the tank with 60 grit sand paper first with electric sander then by hand. 3. Spray white vinegar on tank, I let it sit for a few minuets. 4. Wash/ rinse tank by spraying it down with a hose and a sponge. Then dry well. Day two 1. Tape off top of tank under rolled steel at the top of tank with painters tape. 2. Measure part A, part B , and alcohol in the cheep plastic paint cups then mix it all up together by using the paint stick. 3. Transfer mixture to new container. 4. Apply first coat with a paint brush. Start with sides at the top of the tank under taped off ledge of tank then do floor, then wait a few hrs. 5. Apply second coat same way, measure, mix, transfer to new container and use a new paint brush. 6. Wait at least 24 hours then fill the tank 7. Admire results with friends and family :)

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I bought a few for large koi pond project tried a pail as per intrctions for mixing and iut set in 10 mins how to prevent early setting of mixture**
A: Because Pond Shield is exothermic, heat will effect the cure time. if it is hot outside, the coating will want to cure quicker. The mistake most people will make though is they will mix the Pond Shield and then leave it in the container they mixed it in. Get it out of that container and either pour it into a large flat paint pan or right onto the floor of the water feature you are working on. Call us at 800-716-1545 if you need further assistance.Pond Armor

**Q: how much area does 1.5 quarts cover?**
A: This depends a little bit on the type of surface. If you have a smooth surface I would say coverage is about 54 square foot. If the surface is porous it will be about 35-40 square foot. this is from my experience with the product.

**Q: 1) if in places it is slightly damp can it still be applied 2) will it work on flag stones with concrete in between the stones.**
A: No, surface to be applied to must be dry and clean...vacuum clean. NO loose material, chip away any loose material and anything that appears like it will be coming loose. If area is wet or damp, may be use a drier or blower to dry the area to be sealed. I would not use it on flag stone either unless you have a small area (I assume you are not walking on this flagstone, it's on a side wall or something cause the flag stone will use up a lot of Pond Armor. Pond Armor clear will put a "wet look" "shinny" finish on the flag stone. If that kind of a finish look is OK with you and the cost won't break the bank, go for it. A ruff surface like flag stone and concrete will require more Pond Armor than smooth surfaces. If you have a big area, I would only work with a quart of Pond Armor at a time on a ruff surface like that until you can see how well the Pond Armor gets applied. And remember, if you only apply Pond Armor to some of the flag stone, the remaining untreated stones will look totally different. Also, you may even have to put 2-3 coats on just because the Flag Stone is so ruff that it may look like you got it all, but you will see you missed some after it dries. (Unless your really good getting it all at 1 coat) Hope this helps. Stuff works!

**Q: Is this product considered “food safe”? Will it leach into soil used for edible plants?**
A: I do not know the specific answer to your question. But I used it to coat the sides and bottom of my Koi pond and it is safe for fish and plants in a pond. This suggests it would be safe for edible plants as well. You may want to check with the seller. I contacted them and they provided help.
