Straight wall allowed her to scoop to the side wall & drag loaded spoon up & to her mouth. Love them so much they have become our favorite bowls! Good portion size, stack well & have held up for months except for the one I dropped on a tile floor! Yes, if left long enough in a microwave, handles will get hot but honestly, I haven't had any dishware approximately this general size that didn't if heated long enough. I waited too long to order another set , as they are not longer available on Amazon. They are not perfect in glazing Dept but I bought for practicality & vs ll ue. Worth every penny! Hope they return.Update:.
