Review: examples of perfection disc by disc - i do agree with other reviewers here the package holding the cd's is pretty weak. mine arrived somewhat intact. but hey that is the only real quibble worth mentioning. i think the music, which is why i made this purchase is beautiful glorious sublime and serendipitous at times. this genre of music is what i have been learning all about this last year. lenny had lots of different sets available here. i did purchase both of the deutsch grammaphon sets already. the biggest difference with the recordings i have heard so far is only in the advanced recording technics utilized over time. a lot of tunes here sound slightly different in the overall sound. quick example. issac stern does the bulk of the violin concertos in this set. he is a marvelous player but at times it is hard to hear him. certain passages seem to cover what he is doing. in the DG sets the fiddler stands out a bit more in the final mix. i am sure this is due to only advancements in the recording process. Bernstein and his different orchestras all are simpatico. i have heard about a third of this set so far and not once did i feel let down. i do wish whoever kept coughing during a live rachmanioff performance and left his spot where ever those microphones were. just saying. when i listened to the four seasons by vivaldi i thought it just might be the best version i have heard so far. i do like vivaldi in this or other HIP music. but the one here is wonderful. i look forward to the disc with dave brubeck on it. that one piques my interest. overall this box set and the price it can be had is just too good to pass up people. this is a great collection

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent 1960s/70s Bernstein Columbia recordings live again!
*by A***A on January 29, 2015*

I recently ordered Sony's Leonard Bernstein Album collection, and it arrived in just several days to Michigan from Z Overstocks in the UK! The shipping was prompt, and the 80 CDs in the set were in great condition and perfect order; absolutely no complaints about the quality or shipping of this CD mega set! I will have a great time in the coming weeks with this musical encyclopedia, a real feast of listening pleasure. I have so far listened to the CDs of Bernstein's "West Side Story" Symphonic suite, "Candide" Overture, "On the Waterfront" and "Fancy Free", and find them to be excellent early 1960s stereo, with alot of bass and "Punch" where needed. Bernstein's "Prelude, Fugue and Riffs", with soloist Benny Goodman, and "On the Town" are also excellent. I also checked CD 80, "Great Marches", and liked the Sousa items, Rule Brittania, Le Marsellaise, Battle Hymn of the Republic, and Star Spangled banner. I had read a review of this in it's "Bernstein Century" release of ca. 1998, and did not find the bass (Booming bass was their complaint) a problem. Some of Lenny's tempos seem a bit spritely for Sousa marches, but they work, and the end result is enjoyable. I know many of the recordings herein from individual releases, and believe the Falla CD will be terrific, for example. This is one of the best value/dollar deals in the Classical music world right now. Consider it an investment, and GO FOR IT.
