    They fit like they should

*by L***A on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on June 12, 2016*

These definitely have a adjustment period. I've been wearing them off and on for the past week since they arrived. I wear a size 9 normally, and bought a 9 in these sandals. They fit like they should.PROSArch support! I got these to replace my usual flip-flops, as an ankle bone spur has caused tendonitis and I must have support to walk now. The arch is just right for my needs.Adjustable: The straps do move around to fit to your foot. They are nice and stiff to move, and I haven't had any problems so far with straps over-tightening around my toe or anything.Denser sole: Anyone who has stepped on a sharp stick or rock while wearing flimsy soft-soled flip-flops knows what I'm saying.Easy on/off: Once the straps are in place, they slip right on and stay put with a tug of the strap tail. Getting them off is as simple as lifting up on the buckle tab and sliding them off. Easy peasy, and I like this method much better than the velcro on my old Tevas.Cute! Not a necessity, but I was pleasantly surprised by the vibrant color in the "Fresh" green and blue. I've received compliments on them already.CONSBuckle placement: It did end up on top of my foot once I'd adjusted the straps to fit. For me, it's not much of an issue, since the tail end is also shorter that way, plus I tend to sit cross-legged and like not having a buckle dig into the side of my foot, but some people might not like the look.Narrow heel: The toe area and arch are exactly right for me. However, just behind the arch support, the shoe is molded inward along the heel. This is going to cause a blister if you don't have a rather narrow heel to begin with, or try to walk all day in them before your feet adjust. I am working on building up a callus. With that said, I noticed that standing in them for extended time seems more irritating to that spot than actual walking. Once I'm moving, the shoe feels more comfortable. This gives me great hope that my feet will eventually adjust to the shape.Overall, great sandals with some minor design flaws.

    Hurt a lot at first...

*by N***. on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on August 18, 2015*

This is my first time purchasing Chacos. I wanted them for hiking and outdoor activities. I ordered a size 8 and that fit well. I am usually an 8-81/2.At first, I disliked them a lot. It takes a while to adjust them to your feet well and sometimes it can be too tight in certain places. I recommend following the instructions that come with the sandals or watching a youtube video. Especially make sure that the toe strap portions of the sandal are loose enough to fit two fingers. Any tighter than that, and it can cause some bad circulation to your toes. If you dislike having your toe restricted, this is not the sandal for you, go for Chacos that do not go through the toe. Although the toe straps can feel restricting, I wanted them for hiking. In the case for hiking, this kept the sandal closer and more attached to my feet, even when going downhill. As for the footbed, I had problems with it at first. When I first put them on, the arch support made my left foot uncomfortable immediately. My right foot did not seem to mind. I started off by wearing them for a few hours a day when I was life guarding. I thought that after having them for 1.5 weeks and doing that, I would be OK to wear them to a theme park all day. I was very wrong. My feet were in so much pain after wearing them for 8 hours straight, especially where my arch was. I was almost going to give up on them, but figured I would keep trying since I had worn them too much to return them.FINALLY, after a month of having them, my feet have broken into my sandals. The sandals do not break in. They are very heavy duty and well made; your feet have to get used to them. Now, I can use them all day without discomfort and appreciate the arch support that they give me, especially when hiking. When hiking, sometimes the toe straps tighten a little, but not too much. They are sturdy and work well and, not to mention, are very cute looking; I often get compliments for them.If you do not have arches, or your arches are low, these will hurt A LOT. The amount of arch support is surprising and took my foot a month to get accustomed. I have both Tevas and Birkenstocks as well. Comparatively speaking, my foot got used to Tevas the first day I wore them. Birkenstocks took my foot about 3 weeks to become comfortable (not pain really, more discomfort). Chaco's by far took my foot the longest to get used to (1 month) and I did go through pain from long wear to get to where I am now.

    So Happy

*by C***T on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 20, 2015*

I love my chacos. I hike, kayak, and do nearly any adventure in these. The pink & purple combo is super cute and I like the look of the double strap. I do a lot of hiking so I enjoy having the extra stability & support of the toe loop. This is my first pair of chacos so I don't have a non-toe-strap feeling to compare it to but when I'm climbing I don't feel these shoes will slip off and I give a lot of credit to that toe strap. The non slip bottom is crucial when your feet get wet. I also like how quick they dry and the fact that I can hose them off to bring them back to life. They don't get the stinks as sneakers or boots do when they are wet. It took me quite some time to get the strap correct. We are talking multiple hikes to get them just right. Too tight was always my issue. Having hiked in trail shoes I was used to keeping shoes snug.. the systematic design of the interconnected strap allows these to be worn with slack which took some mental hurdles for me to jump. Once I got it down I really fell in love. So don't give up! And trust the design - you really do want to be able to get a finger between your toe and the sole. The idea seemed like it would be too loose but the chaco videos are pretty straightforward about it. They are wide, which is fairly obvious from the photos, which keeps your feet safe from puncture wounds and scrapes when outdoors. My toes are also far enough back so they don't hit anything when walking or climbing. I wear a 7.5 and bought an 8 and would totally recommend this - with an active sandal you want more coverage, not less. I can't say enough great things about these sandals, I am so happy with them.
