Co. Fuser and Glass Slumping kiln that can also be used for low-fire ceramics. Built of extra strong materials, this Fuser 87 Glass Kiln offers a 3 year waranty and years of trouble-free service. It fires to Cone 03 or 2000 F. and has elements that are pinned close to the firing chamber to increase the element life. A pyrometer is included. The peepholes are tapered which provides a wider angle of view into the firing chamber. The power switch is infinitely variable, providing a smooth power curve to reduce shock when working with glass. The base plate is strong steel and the kiln has a heavy steel lid hinge, brace and back clamps. A steel stand is included. This top-loading kiln has a 17-1/2" octagonal chamber with a 6-3/4" depth. The outside dimensions are 24-1/2"W x 29"D x 21" H. It can operate on household current of 120 volts but requires a 20 Amp fuse and an outlet to match the configuration of the end plug. The owner provided the original purchase documents and I was able to confirm that the machine was only four months old. She said she was selling it because she wasn't getting the hang of lampworking. I used it for the first time two months after I purchased it and most of my pieces shattered in the kiln. I created another batch of beads and a few of these shattered as well. I looked up the model on the Internet and saw that other users were having issues with this model...something to do with the coils in the lid if I recall. This kiln is sitting in my garage holding down a stack of poster-board. I did my research and purchased a Jen-Ken model that has worked great. Perhaps I purchased a dud, but this kiln is priced a couple hundred dollars below what other jewelry kilns are going for.
