It's sturdy but thin and I think it'll get wet and weaken after a time. I don't shower with jewelry anyway. I ordered this one thinking that it was going to be thin or just an unshaped piece of jade. I was *so* wrong. I'm not an expert on Maori pieces, but I think it's a fine example of a Maori adze necklace. It has a great weight. The jade is shaped with a gentle curve on one side and angled to a taper from the center on the other. It's beautifully wrapped and braided by a black cord. On top of everything, instead of being stuck in a ziplock bag, it came in a green velveteen pouch that was inside a woven pouch. It also included two small pieces of paper, one with a list of all the materials used in their products and another with an explanation of the meanings of the different shapes.For the money I spent, this was an amazing find.
