Even though they are clearly marked as made of Urethane, a plastic, I still thought they were the same virgin rubber ones they have at my gym. The Urethane is somewhat harder than the rubber I'm used to. Not a hard plastic but harder than the rubber.But... the build quality of the dumbbells is definitely there. They look and feel really good with that great Hamptom grip. The Urethane is rather non-slip and and non-marking. They don't smell at all. Country of origin is China. I was looking for rubber, made in the USA, but these are actually well made and I'm satisfied.Extremely fast shipping from Fitness Edge.
