I didn’t want to get one of those other steering wheel covers, which are ill fitting and sort of too thick. The Accord’s steering wheel is already pretty hearty. But I also wanted a little project as well, something that is somewhat customizable. What better than a DIY steering wheel cover.This one is pretty nice, with lots of colors to choose from and also how you actually stitch it up will really make it yours. Though not made of real leather, this micro fiber leather is nice to the touch, grippy with little perforations and accent colored stitching as well. It’s a tight fit, which may take you a few minutes to get on the steering wheel. I feel it adds just the right amount of buik to the steering wheel. Other ready made grips would make the steering wheel too thick for my taste. But this is just right. I also like that the accent colored thread/binding is customizable as well. I choose the blue for the hybrid.The hard part is the actual stitching pattern you decide on. I had to YouTube how to put it on, and there are about 5 different styles/patterns to follow. In the end i chose the simple one, as I’m fat and not very.flexible, and can’t move around the steering wheel to do the more intricate patterns. But what you have to do is literally stitch the thread around the steering wheel to secure it. It’s not fast and you can get hurt and poke yourself with the needle, if you aren’t careful or if you are tired. Which did happen to me several times.But in the end it’s nice to know that you put some time and energy into the steering wheel wrap. It is not for everyone, but if you are up to it, it will be fun in the end.
