Ours is 6 years old and we’ve never had any problems. Should continue to last a long time. The engineering is kind of genius. A lot of shelves that you assemble, you have to screw pieces of the poles together where you’re left with a few points taking most of the load, leaving pressure points where it can break. But with this one, the connecting parts are made where the pieces slide into place, and the downward pressure of the weight of each shelf gives sturdiness to the segment beneath it, and it becomes even sturdier once you put something heavy on the shelf. And it does this evenly across the round base of each segment of the poles, so the weight is distributed well. I also found it straightforward to assemble. Worth noting: it would be very difficult to disassemble once made, so keep that in mind if for some reason you plan to break it back down again in the future.
