The marking out and photographic techniques are applicable to all forms of sculpture. The sculpting is covered by many detailed photographic steps, and not too many words.There is no detail at all on how to carve or the tools to use, so if that is what you are looking for, it would not be an appropriate book to buy.Very inspiring and sufficiently well thought through that any reader will be filled with enough confidence to start. The book gives detailed step by step instructions to 5 carvings, 3 faces and 2 torsos. Most sculpture books give pages and pages of endless different equipment, here he just tells you what he used and when he uses it. The book is aimed at both novice and experienced carvers. (I myself felt like picking up a chisel + hammer though not done so since i left school).
