Any ideas how to fix it?** A: Has the blower been functioning normally, or was it blowing out since it was installed? It sounds as if you may have a duct obstruction. Perhaps there was shipping tape still on the damper or the damper is jammed in the closed position. If that is the reason, you will need to drop the vent hood to gain access to it. Good luck. **Q: Question for the seller: are the led light day light? if not, can they be changed? does home depot or lowe's have them?** A: No, they are very bright cold light, I bought two "warm" LED's from them and they weren't "warm" the same cold light so I installed some colored filters in the fixture and that helps, sort of. don't know if Home Depot carries that led. **Q: Can we vent through the back of the unit and directly through our wall to the outside? Do the position of the blowers need to be rotated for this?** A: You should buy the RH-R06-42 model. It seemed a perfect match for the constraints of our old 60 year old kitchen so we ordered one. It arrived quickly and in perfect condition. Installation was fairly easy, though I had to mess a bit with our existing ductwork. I used cabinet jacks to lift in in place securely and drilled the bottom of the cabinet for mounting. I chose to use flat head bolts down through the cabinet with fender washers and nuts from the underside. This made for a very secure mounting. The skinny screws and nylon anchors that were provided just didn't seem right for the job.Performance of the hood is fantastic with four levels of venting. Max is a bit loud, but sometimes you need to clear the air quickly, and the noise level is tolerable even then. The other levels are quieter than I expected. Lighting is good as well and the dimming feature is a real plus.The design of this hood is another great feature. It really augments the appearance of our kitchen. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Moves a lot of air, 1 person can install hood, Warm LED lights available *by S***L on Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2022* I bought this hood months ago but just installed it a few days ago. I wired it with a modified extension cord when I first got it to make sure it worked. Very good packaging and everything checked out. Hopefully this review will be helpful and not tl;drInstallation - I removed the plate that covers the vent opening from the back and tried to install it on the top, but a rivet slightly interfered with a cutout on the plate, and it wouldn't lay flat. I used a file to remove some material and it was able to install it. I also made an exact mockup of the vent using cardboard, marking where all the holes are (vent, power, rivets on top that would touch the undercabinet support strips) so I could transfer those to the cabinets and wall, cut where I needed to and made sure there was solid support to drill screws into. On installation day my helper couldn't make it, so I decided to install it by myself. I was able to do this because the backsplash wasn't in yet, so I attached a ledger board to the wall, slid the vent in, propped the front up with a proper length 2x4 and screwed it in. Easy. For the exhaust I installed a 90 elbow, an in-line backdraft preventer, then approximately 6ft straight to the roof, using 8" rigid duct. Regarding the backdraft preventer built into the vent hood; as others have mentioned it is flimsy and I suspect, not that effective. It has an 1/8' gap around its edge, so it's not completely stopping a backdraft. I was able to pull (rip) the metal flap out with my hands it's so thin. I advise you to remove it and use a better, in-line device. I will say the rest of the hood is beefy, heavy and well made.How Does It Work? To see how well it worked I used my wok to make stir fry and had the vent on the highest setting. It is quite loud on the highest setting, but I only used that for the few minutes I was cooking, then turned it down to a slower speed. It was so much more effective that the microwave vent it replaced. As long as you understand this isn't a commercial unit and not expect miracles, you should be happy.Lights - We do not like cold light, and the LEDs it came with are a very cold blue (6000k). Luckily, I saw another review who mentioned getting warm (4000k) LEDs from the manufacturer. I went to their website, sent an email and they responded the next day. Turns out, the product is listed on their website and is easy to order. I paid $30 for the pair and had them in about 3 days. Installing them was straightforward; remove the vent filters, reach in above the light and push it down. It will pop out, but it takes a fair amount of strength to do it. I attached a picture that shows the metal band around the light that compresses at its installed or removed. BEWARE - when you remove the existing light it exposes unfinished metal edges that are sharp. I, stupidly, didn't wear my thick work gloves and sliced my thumb and forefinger pretty good. Wear gloves! The warm LEDs - So. Much. Better. Picture shows cold on the left, warm on the right. Look at the drywall above the stove to see the color.Anyway, this is a good, solid well-made hood that does move a lot of air. Not whisper quiet, but not crazy loud either. I would recommend it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Nice range hood with adequate performance *by D***Z on Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2020* Like many, we are replacing an over the stove microwave with a vent hood. There are two reasons for the change: (1) Get some good performance out of a vent fan (2) It looks nicer than a clunky microwave!I reviewed dozens of fans and, in fact, had three delievered. Two of the three failed, one for performance and the second for appearance. Trying to find a hood with both of those features is proving tough. Lots of hoods are rated for high CFM, and lots of air seems to be blowing on the outside of the house, but the inside performance seems to be lacking.The Awoco hood is a very nice unit. It came packed very nicely, and had all the parts necessary to install. It is a heavy unit and either requires two (or three) people to do the installation, or you have to figure out some way to set up a system to hold the unit in place while it is screwed in. I opted to use a set of clamps and cleats as shown in the second photo, and this made installation easy. I was able to raise the unit onto the cleats and slide it into place, allowing the cord to extend through the hole and into the cabinet. Then I used small shims made by cutting some stiff packaging styrofoam to place between the cleat and the bottom of the unit as I raised it the inch or so into place. I did the same thing on the other side, and the unit was now sitting tight against the bottom of the cabinet and I could install the screws easily with an extended bit on my drill.The LED lights are bright and quite white in the color spectrum. They are dimmable, to a degree, but I did note that at some point they began to flash a bit as they got dimmer. The end result is they dim about 70% before that occurs, so it's no big deal.The fan has four speeds. Honestly, the first speed doesn't provide much suction. I found speed 2 or 3 provided fairly good suction for most cooking needs. Today I made some bacon, but used the 4th speed on the fan as things were quite smoky and greasy.Honestly, it seems like the fan should provide better suction. Standing outside the vent the air is blowing like crazy, but it doesn't seem to be that efficient on the inside. It's *way* better than the old microwave fan, to be sure, but I still wish it was more effective. The performance is adequate and borders on *good* at the highest speed. The fan makes a fair amount of noise, but it sounds *good* compared to the noise the other two vents made that I tried out. I am guessing that the blades are balanced well and that the motor is of decent quality. So even though it is a bit noisy the nice sound of the motor makes it not the least bit unpleasant.I am happy with the purchase and pretty sore after installing (and uninstalling) three fans in the past week. I have decided the Awoco wins out for our purposes.
