You do need to throughly clean & dry the walls as the instruction clearly states. I was nervous about purchasing these after reading some of the reviews but the price was so good I couldn't resist and also bought a can of 3M spray adhesive to make sure they stick, but ended up not using it at all. 10 minutes to prep the walls, 4 hours to install and the end result looks good to me.
