It cuts my butter easily and no need for a knife. Fits in the butter compartment of fridge. Washes easily by hand. I have not placed in dishwasher at this time but believe they will be fine. I love the convenience of not having to rewrap a butter stick each time I need a pat of butter and to mot have a dirty knife. Butter has remained fresh until used, usually for us a bit less than 2 weeks. Probably longer, but I don't know. (See elsewhere on amazon.) But when you want a stick or two, or part of a stick, for baking or cooking, you need to go to your "spare" sticks. (The fourth stick I freeze until I transfer it to one of these containers.)
