It covers a very broad range of topics, and gives proper advice for the work. There may be some cases where a more modern alternative is available, but for the most part it is still up to snuff with how this stuff gets done. The one caveat is that it isn't highly detailed instruction, for a beginner for example. For a given issues or fix, the book will go over the major steps to getting the job done, but it will not explain the specifics of how each step is accomplished. For example, if you haven't used a particular tool or product recommended, you aren't going to learn how to do that with this book. Treat this book as a blueprint for how to correctly approach the task, but you may need to research more specific stuff as it comes up. This will give you the plan, but the know-how has to come from you.As an example, in the section on repairing a large hole in a concrete basement floor, one technique given is using a circular saw with a masonry blade and cutting a key along the edge of the hole. If you've never cut stone before, or aren't comfortable with circular saws, you'll have to do further learning. What I did read did not seem to be as to be as complete and easy to understand compared to some other (physical) :how-to" books I've had (my old Readers Digest "Do It Yourself Manual" comes to mind. It was excellent). ### ⭐⭐⭐ Incomplete Steps in Repairs *by K***E on Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2020* I like that this book is color coded into different categories such as plumbing, electrical, floors, doors & windows, etc... However, I've got another 1 of the older Black & Decker home r we pair books & it goes much more into detail on how to do things step by step & for each & every job, it starts out by showing you the tools you will need. It is a much better book than this one & it is much older. This book doesn't show you how to finish alot of things in their steps like in vinyl plank flooring they show you nothing about transition strips or how to install it in bathrooms around bathtubs & toilets, nor what types of subfloor you should use, or anything about caulking or installing your trim at the end. They leave out alot if stuff that's not covered anywhere else in the book. For the cost of this book, I wouldn't recommend buying it.
