## Description

Ford # 4 Rated Viscosity Cup. Paint Viscosity Cup is used for measuring the viscosity of paints & finishes. Correct Viscosity helps to ensure a flawless finish.

## Features

- The Ford # 4 cup is a portable device for quickly checking and measuring the viscosity or thickness of paint, varnish, lacquer, stains, inks, syrups, liquids and more.
- Cup allows you to verify coating viscosity prior to painting, so you can fully atomize the paint spray, helping you achieve a flawless finish.
- The Ford viscosity cup is a simple gravity device that permits the timed flow of a known volume of liquid passing through an orifice located at the bottom.
- To determine the viscosity of a liquid, the cup is dipped and completely filled with the substance.
- After lifting the cup out of the substance the user measures the time until the liquid streaming out of it breaks up, this is the corresponding "efflux time".

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Write the following data: vertical height, internal bore diameter, outer diameter of the hole, bowl volume?**
A: Internal bore is about .190 inches. A true #4 Ford is .160 inches. This is not a #4 Ford. It should take 10 seconds for water to run out of a cup if it is #4 Ford. This does not do that. Not sure what it is as I can't find info on the bore sizes of the various other types of viscosity cups. Don't know the rest of your questions.

**Q: Will this work on any liquid? And do you time it or how does it work**
A: It can be used on any liquid but the lower the viscosity the less time it takes to drain from the cup the less accurate the calculation will be. I use it on finishes so do not calculate viscosity but rather through trial and error have found the correct thinning to suite my equipment and materials.

**Q: Is this the viscosity measuring cup, that comes with the homeright finish max c800766 paint sprayer ?**
A: Nope

**Q: can this be used with latex paint?**
A: yes it can but the paint will be thinned to work correctly.
