 "Date Night" portrays a surfing duo, lovers sharing their passion for the water and waves, out for the evening on a surf date. Any kook can hang and surf with his buddies, but a real man surfs with his girl. The man on his longboard catches a nice easy wave while his date paddles out on her shortboard looking for something bigger. Hobrecht captures the dynamic dusky lighting just before sunset, setting the mood for a night of passion and choice San O breaks.   
 Hobrecht spent much of his youth riding the waves of his hometown Huntington Beach, California, also known as, Surf City USA. Hobrecht started his career as a professional artist as Editorial Cartoonist for Surfer Magazine.
